De-LAB with the sector of Education and Students Affairs (Student Activities and Alumni Committee) are inviting you to help shaping a physical setting in our faculty campus by designing a unique outdoor ELEMENT. D-LAB junior architects will support all participating teams to reach the competition goals.
Objectives
• Supporting students’ activities and training opportunities.
• Enhancing sense of belonging
• Boosting teamwork skills
• Applying academia in the field
ELIGIBILITY
Sophomore and Junior levels (all programs)
MURALS | Participants are required to design and fabricate murals with specific themes regarding different Art Movements. Participants can design adopting parametric design approach or any other approaches. Applicants should: • have suitable psychomotor skills (handcrafting and quality management) • be skillful at design computing software and approaches (optional) |
Junior and Senior-1 levels (all programs)
Sculpture/Foci | Participants are required to design and fabricate sculpture/foci with specific themes/functions suitable to outdoor experience. Participants should design and fabricate using digital technology. Applicants should: • have suitable psychomotor skills • be skillful at design computing software and approaches (a must) |
AFFINITY EXPERINCE
Affinity is designed to include workshop and competition:
Workshop 2-week intensive design computing workshop | This phase is obligatory for teams who will work on “Sculpture/Foci” but optional for “Murals” if the group will adopt non-design computing approach. Workshop will be equal to 2-week training |
Competition | Prototyping 2-week schematic design/prototyping | This phase includes introductory session for refreshing ideas and orientation, followed by mentoring 2-week working to ideate and develop a product. Deliverables of this phase are model, drawings with suitable scale, and implantation specifications. This phase will be equal to 2-week training |
Competition | Implementation 2-week implementation | MURAL Scaled mural (the size will be determined according to the assigned areas/planes) SCULPTURE/FOCI Volumatic sculpture/foci within an imaginary cube (200200200 cm) This phase will be equal to 2-week training This phase will be only for the first three teams |

Evaluation Criteria
Novelty | Providing something new, in form, structure, message/meaning, functional |
Durability | Being well structured, durable, and weather resistant. |
Digital technology | Adopting digital technology in design and fabrication (a must in sculpture, added value in murals) |
Limitations
10 groups for each workshop (5-6 students /group. Selection by “first-come-first-served”
